Dartmoor Classic Sportive – Grande 107 miles, Medio 67 miles
We are very excited to have secured 4 places in the sold-out Dartmoor Classic Sportive, which is widely known as one of the most prestigious open road cycling events in the UK and one of the toughest. Entries across all distances are limited to 4,000 and such is the demand that places typically sell out within 48 hours of going on sale. We have 4 places for the Grande 107-mile course but this can be reduced on the day to the Medio 67-mile route if necessary.
If you’re a cycling fan then the West Country has a beautiful and diverse natural environment, featuring a stunning route through some charming South Devon hamlets lined with thatched villages and meandering high banked lanes. If you’ve got time to stop for a breather in the middle of the race, you’ll be able to see cascading boulder-strewn rivers and gorges, and the dramatic beauty of Dartmoor’s granite Tors.
The Dartmoor Classic Grande Depart will leave Newton Abbot Racecourse.
A real festival atmosphere!
Whether you are a keen cyclist hoping to compete or just a spectator, this acclaimed cycling event has a real festival atmosphere, with food and trade stalls, entertainment and plenty of vantage-points to watch the race from. Although entrants find the many climbs to be tough and challenging, the excitement of the competition and the incredible views make this a regular draw for cyclists across the UK. An unforgiving race, it can test the stamina and strength of even the strongest competitors. But the sense of achievement you’ll get if you manage to complete the race will be enormous.
You will be sent a rider’s information pack 2 weeks before the event and will have to register at Newton Abbot Racecourse on the day before or morning of the event. As well as entry to the event you will also receive a goody bag and event T-shirt.
Natalie the EDS UK fundraising manager is taking on the challenge of this event herself so will be on hand all weekend (when she isn’t riding) and can arrange to meet up to talk about the event before or reminisce after crossing the finish line.
