Trustees
Our trustees are all volunteers with a broad range of skills and experience. They meet around five times a year to review progress against our plans and to plan for the future. As volunteers we do not provide direct contact details for them but if there is something you think needs discussing with them we would encourage you to send us a message.
Charlotte Williams Chair - Trustee since 2020
Charlotte Williams (Chair) is Deputy Chief Executive Officer at North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust. She is a member of the Trust Board and leads on quality improvement and innovation, transformation, strategy, digital and organisational development. Charlotte is an Associate Editor of the BMJ Leader healthcare journal, and has published on the topic of patient involvement in major redesign of health services. Charlotte is an Honorary Associate Professor at University of Birmingham, School of Social Policy.
Laure Nas de Tourris Deputy Chair - Trustee since 2022
Laure Nas de Tourris is an executive healthcare leader with 20 years of experience driving strategy and commercialisation having worked in consulting and pharmaceutical companies within different roles and geographies. Laure is also a member of the Healthcare Thinktank for the French Embassy in London advancing best practices for the life science sector. Laure has a personal interest in hEDS.
Tim de Winter Deputy Chair - Trustee since 2024
Tim is a Director and Board Trustee in the health sector. He has led major health programmes across Public, Private and Government organisations, covering a range of services, including Primary Care, Children and Young People’s Mental Health, Acute and Community providers, commissioners and spent time as a management consultant. Previously, Tim held a variety of roles in telecommunications and charities.
Helen Ball- Treasurer since 2024
Helen has been Finance Director at the National Rheumatoid Arthritis Society since 2018 where she works to support, educate and campaign for all those living with complex auto-immune conditions. Her role encompasses financial and risk management, HR, IT and facilities management. She is passionately committed to empowering people and has spent time volunteering as an adviser at Citizens Advice for a number of years. Helen also serves as Treasurer Trustee at National Voices which is the leading coalition of health cand social care charities in England. She previously worked in senior positions in the commercial sector for over twenty years.
Anne Lavery- Trustee since 2022
Anne Lavery has a professional background in both adult education and science journalism. Prior to becoming a trustee, Anne had a long association with EDS UK as a volunteer running large support groups and events for the charity in London. Anne lives with hEDS.
Alison Roux-Trustee since 2022
Alison Roux has a background in Leadership Development and Organisational Development across a range of industries, working internationally and multi-culturally. She is also an accredited Executive coach and has an MBA from Cranfield School of Management. Previous experience on charity boards has led to a particular interest in safeguarding. Alison’s daughter has hEDS.
Jill Harrison- Trustee since 2024
Jill has a background in business operations and leadership and has worked for over 25 years in the healthcare communications industry. With a PhD in biochemistry and immunology, she has extensive experience in working with medical professionals, patients and caregivers to educate on medical conditions and new treatment options. She now holds Board roles across several organisations. Her work with EDS UK is motivated by her own experience of living with hEDS.
Yanina Aubrey-Gimenez- Trustee since 2024
Yanina Aubrey-Gimenez is Director of Innovation at Exemplas. She is an experienced board-level leader and NED with extensive experience in business strategy, commercial direction, research-led innovation, and multi-partner initiatives. She has led projects in business incubation, industry-academia R&D, sustainability, and strategy consulting for blue-chip companies. Most recently, she headed up business, enterprise and innovation at University of Hertfordshire and chaired the Healthcare Technologies Capability Connector (HTCC), a three-way Healthtech research and innovation partnership between University of Hertfordshire, Imperial College London and Cranfield University. She has been a lecturer and speaker in the UK and internationally on entrepreneurship, innovation and sustainability. Yanina’s daughter has EDS.
Kathryn Caldwell- Trustee since 2024
Kathryn is a Chartered Accountant, specialising in public sector finance and passionate about enabling organisations to enhance their services and outcomes. Kathryn spent the first 10 years of her career delivering a range of finance roles in acute NHS Trusts, before moving to consulting where she provides finance and corporate services transformation support to organisations across the healthcare, education, justice and housing sectors.
Sarah Bullock- Trustee since 2025
Sarah Bullock is the Chief Compliance Officer for EY UK, a large professional services firm, and prior to that was an economist. Sarah has 30+ years experience of broad risk management and compliance expertise, operations and financial analysis experience. Sarah is passionate about disability inclusion having co-led the EY UK Ability Network and chaired the Diverse Ability Steering Committee. Sarah has a personal interest in EDS.
