Support Groups
Did you know...all our support groups are run by Area Coordinators who volunteer their time to organise meetings all over the country. Our Area Coordinators are from all walks of life including some who suffer with EDS, to those who care for someone with it. Without our volunteers, the support we provide to you would cease to exist, so we are incredibly grateful for the invaluable work they do.
We have over 100 groups online and face to face, with the aim to provide safe, friendly environments where members can meet others, listen to people’s stories and learn from each other. All of our support groups also have a closed regional Facebook group for members only.
We are very grateful to all of our funders who help pay for the meetings, training of our volunteers and much more.

Sam
Hi my name is Samantha. I have lived with HSD all my life but only diagnosed last year.
As you can imagine I was relieved that the symptoms were real and terrified at the same time. I have just medically retired and worked as a Charge Nurse in the local hospital. I couldn’t find a lot of information and I’m a trained nurse!
I can only imagine how difficult it must be for anyone else. I have great support from my family and friends and am so very thankful for organisations like this. I am looking forward to working alongside everyone to see if we can make a difference together.
Hi my name is Gyllian and I have the great pleasure in helping Sam as Area Co-ordinator in Dumfries Scotland. Our support meetings will focus directly on socialising and supporting with like minded people who share the same issues around EDS.
I was a teacher for a long time but since my diagnosis I am now a full time artist and maker living in Dumfries and Galloway. Being creative really helps my HSD. I have had a long journey before and after my diagnosis of Hypermobility Spectrum Disorder and it is through the understanding of this diagnosis that I have helped myself to manage the conditions I have.
A diagnosis can help you move forward but it also means you have to learn a lot. I hope that meeting you all we can all learn so much from each other and be validated in our struggle to lead as normal a life as we can. This isnt always easy and I understand that struggle so it will be a pleasure to see you all.
Join us at our meeting where you will be in an environment that will make you feel safe and relaxed.
