Fundraiser of the Month – March 2017 – University of Warwick Wind Orchestra

On Friday 10th March between 9am and 9pm, the University of Warwick Wind Orchestra hosted a 12 hour Playathon in the Warwick Students’ Union Atrium in order to raise money and awareness for Ehlers-Danlos Support UK.

The day was a huge success and featured performances from the Wind Orchestra alongside its three small ensembles: Feeling Saxy, Team Clarinet and Flute Choir. As well as an incredibly popular bake sale, Wind Orchestra fundraised on the day by inspiring its audience to get creative with some musical origami and even the opportunity to conduct the band. This was in fact recorded live on air by BBC Coventry and Warwickshire, who visited in order to feature the event on their afternoon radio show!

We raised £327.23 on the day, making a current total of £1,841.26. This is in addition to the £220 collected from Wind Orchestra’s Christmas carolling performances at Hatton Country World, Jephson Gardens and Hoar Park in December, all of which will also be going to EDS UK. Wind Orchestra are thrilled to therefore be making a total donation to EDS UK exceeding £2000!

We had a Snapchat Geofilter on the day and tweeted the event from our account @UWWO . For more information about the event or the Wind Orchestra, please contact Steph Glenister:
